FAQs.
OUR MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.
With ransomware on the rise, it’s more important than ever to have a quality off-site backup. While it can be expensive, think of it as an insurance policy that includes many other benefits such as protection against fire, theft or other unforeseen events. It can also be much more expensive in time and money to recover the lost data.
As always, you should also make sure your operating system and other software, including anti-virus, is up to date. Also, do not click on suspicious links. If you are unsure, go directly to the source.

You may have noticed the increased frequency of cyber security warnings. While those targets will likely be bigger fish such as large companies or sectors of industry, it’s still important to keep your personal bits and bytes secure.
At the very least, part of your digital cleaning routine should include changing your passwords. Yes, PASSWORDS. You really should not have the same one everywhere. Here is a great password generator, as recommended by our friend and web designer at Your Page Today.
While a strong set of passwords is great, you should take it to the next level by enabling multi-factor or two-factor authentication whenever possible. Often this involves receiving a six-digit code via text as another layer of security to help verify you are the account owner. There are other options depending on the website or app capabilities.
Backing up files can also be a good thing to get into if you haven’t been doing so already. Sure, you could get a decent external hard drive at Best Buy; however, an off-site solution allows for additional security in case of fire, theft or other unforeseen events.
Another task worth considering is to freeze your credit reports:
Equifax 1-800-685-1111 | TransUnion 1-888-909-8872 | Experian 1-888-397-3742
As always, you should also make sure your operating system and other software, including anti-virus, is up to date, If your anti-virus is hogging valuable system resources or you don’t have one, and/or need a backup solution contact us!

While this once complicated question has become easier and easier to answer as of late, there are some considerations that need to be made between now and October 14, 2025.
For the most part, the Windows version you use is up to you, your computing needs, and your hardware. Unless there is a pressing need, or curiosity, most users won’t need to make the switch yet.
If you have an older system running Windows 10, particularly with all available feature and security updates installed, feel free to keep using it. Keep in mind that anything other than 22H2 has expired. It’s also important to note that anything older than Windows 10 makes it harder and harder for us to service and/or upgrade.

As far as Windows 11, Microsoft has made, arguably, the most significant change in the history of the operating system. While you may have noticed things that are different from version to version, there have been a few major adjustments that are behind the scenes. Windows 11 now comes with strict hardware requirements, particularly what CPU is being used and if a security feature (Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0) is available. This means most older computers will need to be replaced.

At a minimum, Windows 11 users should have 23H2 installed as it will be supported until November 11, 2025. The newest edition, 24H2, was released on October 1, 2024 and will be supported until October 23, 2026. The first two versions, 21H2 and 22H2, expired on October 10, 2023 and October 8, 2024, respectively.

Making sure you have a clean computer is a very important but an often missed step. Because your computer has fans running internally to move the warm air out it pulls dust in with the airflow. Much of this dust tends to gather around the heatsink (metal fins that draw heat away from your processor), or in the ports around the power supply. Never use a vacuum cleaner in or around your tower. To clean the dust out of your tower, use a can of compressed air. A vacuum cleaner creates static electricity which does not work well near a computer.

Although there could be many answers to this question, one reason could be Spyware and/or Malware. Each of these can download as you are surfing through the internet. When these files are not deleted and left in your computer can gradually take up internet bandwidth as well as processor speed eventually leaving your computer virtually unusable.
A second reason is your computer may not have enough RAM memory to handle the intense graphics that the internet contains. Graphics on the internet can easily use up all your RAM memory if your computer does not have a sufficient amount. When this happens your computer will drastically slow down.

The year your computer was manufactured plays a large part as to what can be done. Depending on when your computer was manufactured there may be little to nothing that is worth paying to try to speed up the system. But if it is not too old, then adding RAM, if it is possible, is usually the cheapest, most effective way to speed up your computer system.
